Extreme Latency With Telnyx Number
Hey team,
I’m seeing extreme latency (around 5+ seconds) when talking to my Vapi voice agent over the phone.
Here’s the setup:
Phone number is a German Telnyx DID
Added it in Vapi via Add new phone number → Telnyx → Number + API key
Telnyx Voice API Application is anchored in Frankfurt and uses programmable voice with Vapi webhook URLs
Calls technically connect fine, but there’s a massive delay between me speaking and the agent replying
Interestingly:
When I listen back to the recording in Vapi, it sounds completely normal (no delay)
The latency only happens live, not in the call logs or playback
Could someone help me figure out why the real-time call is delayed even though the recording sounds fine?
Is this something related to regional routing or how Telnyx and Vapi handle media paths?
