Testing SMS Workflows & Voice Handoff in VAPI for HVAC Lead Qualification

Hey everyone! I’m building a 95% SMS + 5% voice workflow in VAPI to qualify HVAC leads from Google Ads. The goal is to:

Handle most leads via SMS (qualifying, booking appointments).

Switch to voice for emergencies (e.g., if a lead says "my AC is broken," the AI texts: "Sounds urgent—can we call to dispatch a technician ASAP?").

Questions:

How can I test the SMS workflow to ensure it works correctly before going live?

Is the SMS to voice handoff possible in VAPI? For example:

If the lead agrees to a call via SMS, can the AI automatically call them?

Alternatively, should I route emergencies to a human (e.g., HVAC owner/employee) instead?
