pricing help?

question, on the VAPI website it says the cost for LLM (4o) is $0.07 per 1M tokens while open charges $2.50 for the same 1M tokens, does this mean VAPI is subsidizing the LLM cost ?

Hi TonyMontana, The pricing details you mentioned seem to relate to the cost structure for LLMs used via Vapi. Vapi does not subsidize provider costs. Instead, the pricing reflects the cost incurred when Vapi makes API requests on behalf of its users. Costs are generally passed through at-cost, which means Vapi charges what the provider charges, without adding any extra margin. For specifics on how provider costs work with Vapi, you can refer to the cost routing documentation. If there are discrepancies in pricing between Vapi and other provider routes like OpenAI, it could be due to different service packages or other variables specific to how those services are consumed. You can always view direct pricing links for the respective providers to ensure consistent estimates, as available in the estimating costs documentation.
