Number of tools limit ?

Hi,

I’m reaching out regarding an issue we’re currently experiencing with VAPI tools.

When we create new tools, some of the existing ones suddenly disappear from the interface, as if there were a limit to the total number of tools allowed on the platform. After checking the documentation, we didn’t find any mention of such a limitation.

Have you already encountered this type of behavior on your side, or is there any known constraint we should be aware of? Unfortunately, it’s difficult for us to show the phenomenon directly, as it happens intermittently.

Based on the documentation, there is no explicit hard limit on the total number of tools, but the API for listing tools uses a

limit

limit

parameter (default 100, max 1000) that controls how many tools are shown per request. If some tools are disappearing from the interface, try increasing the

limit

limit

parameter to display more tools:

@Tixi ... Hi i am also facing same issue and for every agent we need to select the tool but it is not dispalying .. Can you help me also how to resolve this.

We ran several tests on our side, but unfortunately the issue is still happening. Some tools continue to disappear as soon as new ones are created.

Thanks for the clarification and for the workaround suggestion.

We tried using the API with an increased limit (set to 1000 as recommended), but unfortunately it doesn’t change the behavior on our side — the tools still disappear from the interface when new ones are created.

Do you have any additional guidance on what we could check next?
