I am trying to import my Telnyx phone number into Vapi, but I keep getting credential errors even though my Telnyx account is fully verified, paid, and active. Here’s what I have done so far: • Created and activated an API key in Telnyx (v2). • Set up a SIP connection and outbound voice profile in Telnyx. • Tried to import the number into Vapi using the API key, but I always get the error “The provided credentials are not valid”. • I also tried using a Free Vapi SIP URI, but I am still unable to link my Telnyx number. Could you please guide me through the correct way to connect my Telnyx number to Vapi, or let me know if there is something wrong with my setup? Thank you very much for your help!

To connect your Telnyx number to Vapi, you need to add your Telnyx SIP credentials (username and password) to Vapi, not just the API key. Use the following API call to create a SIP trunk credential:

Can you try the following:

Method 1 – Direct Import

Go to the Phone Numbers tab in your Vapi dashboard.
Click Create a Phone Number.
Select the Telnyx tab.
Enter your Telnyx account details and phone number.

Method 2 – SIP Integration
If direct import does not work, you can connect via SIP trunking:

**Configure your Telnyx SIP trunk**
- FQDN: `sip.vapi.ai`
- Port: `5060`
- Set inbound settings
- Set your number’s **Translated Number** to match your Vapi SIP URI
**Set up outbound authentication**
- In Telnyx, go to **Voice → SIP Trunking → Authentication**
- Create new SIP credentials for Vapi
- Configure an outbound voice profile
