Issue with recurring payments failing on our account
We’re having an issue with the credit card on our account. For some reason we don’t understand, the card we had set up started failing payments. We replaced it a few weeks ago, but now the new card (which had been working perfectly until today) also started failing.
We’d like to know if this could be an issue on VAPI’s side, or if it’s the bank declining the recurring payments. Our account is set to “Pay as you go” with recurring $10 charges. Because this account has a high call volume, we usually see between 2–6 recharges per day.
Could you please check the logs on your end before we contact the bank?
Thanks a lot

Hi Beelzelga,
To determine whether the payment issue is on Vapi's side or the bank's, please check the following:
1. Payment History: Review your billing page to see if there are any error messages associated with the failed payments. These might indicate if the problem is due to Vapi’s system or external factors.
2. Billing System: If you’re interested, consider switching to the new credit-based billing system here which offers more predictable budgeting and other add-ons. This new system requires a manual switch and cannot revert back once changed.
3. Bank Communication: Contact your bank or card issuer to check if they're blocking or declining the recurring charges and why.
4. Call Cost Information: Review recent charges using
call.costs[type=vapi].subType
on your billing page to understand if the costs are being categorized as normal or overage, which might affect overall billing.
If the issue continues, please provide screen captures or any error codes from your billing page for further assistance.VAPI Dashboard - Voice AI Management Platform
