Agent not responding to Belgium number
We’re experiencing an issue with outbound audio when using a Belgian Telnyx number.
Inbound audio is clear, but outbound audio is distorted and full of background noise.
We’ve already removed G722 from inbound SIP settings on Telnyx.
We're using your platform to run outbound calls via a Telnyx SIP trunk, where we have a Belgian number (+32-3-209-07-33).
Inbound calls are working perfectly after disabling the G722 codec in Telnyx.
However, with outbound calls from this Belgian number, we're still experiencing heavy background noise and distortion. The voice agent becomes unintelligible.
Here's what's important to know:
When using our Dutch number via Telnyx on the exact same Vapi agent, outbound works flawlessly.
The problem only occurs with outbound from the Belgian number — even when calling the exact same test mobile number.
Telnyx confirmed they already tried routing adjustments but the problem persists.
Request:
Can you confirm which codecs Vapi is sending in the SIP INVITE to Telnyx?
Is G722 being offered, and if so, can we completely disable it for this agent/account?
Alternatively, can we force only PCMU (G711-u) and PCMA (G711-a) for outbound calls via Vapi?
We're trying to isolate and resolve the distortion issue, and codec mismatch is the most likely cause.
Please let us know if this can be configured or if you can help us disable G722 completely on your side.
