SQUADS - How to?

Hi I've looked through the docs on the Squads feature, but I still am unclear how to utilize this. Is it only available through custom code on third party platforms. Do I use the custom functions / tools in the main assistant on main platform to transfer the call to the corresponding assistant? Thank you!
